Hello Again  : )

Well its been a while since I have posted. A lot has been going on but I feel like I have not achieved much yet.

So what’s new?

I went camping for the first time in the Marin Headlands. Not exactly “roughing it” as we were only 10 minutes away from SF and Sausalito, but it was fun nevertheless. Phuong and I stayed at Bicentennial, which is a campground on this cliff above the pacific ocean, and boy the views are gorgeous. We were blessed with perfectly clear weather (no fog or overcastness) so we were able to see the city in all its unnatural glory in the middle of the night! We did a bit of hiking, but we mostly fought off raccoons.

So I had this bag of hot cheetos in a thermal bag. The cheetos were not even open, and a raccoon managed to find it by tearing a hole in my new tent, climbing in, and unzipping my bag. He/she ate my chips, left a bunch of red paw prints, and took off. WTF raccoon. Other then that (and the family of raccoons surrounding our dinner spot - there were baby raccoons too) it was pretty chill.

We met this couple from Montreal, Canada and they were really nice. Had french accents and everything. They are around our age, and they simply decided one day to quit their jobs and travel the world. So far they have gone to Thailand, all around Europe, and now they are doing the Americas. I admired their willingness to go out without a care in the world and experience life. I wish I could do that… Maybe after I make a fortune : ) . Anyways, I have a new pen pal, and I hope to keep in touch with them as they make their way down Cali to Honduras.

Work at AAA has been the same. Nothing really special really. At least I have a job. Two people from my office have quit so far. Im not sure if I want to stay either. I really want to go into the restaurant business. To get started, I am now studying under my mom to learn to cook! (again) Im a bit slow still, but hopefully I can start really making a difference at the restaurant.

Well, thats what has happened so far. I want to go more into details, but I am lazy. Until next time, adieu!

it comes and goes

Another year, another birthday. Now I just have to wait 364 days before I turn 24! So I had a pretty chill celebration with my gf in SF. She bought her first drink ever! We went to the Spot again, because she loves Soju. We ordered a bunch of food: Kimchee fried rice, kimchee ramen, and spicy dok bok gi. And a bottle of strawberry soju. (pictures later) Unfortunately, the combination of strawberry and kimchee, resulted in a unfavorable flavour. So, my gf and I both hate (well dislike) bananas. Unfortunately, when eating spicy food and drinking strawberry soju, the combination of flavour ended being, you guessed it, BANANA. WTF?!!

Either way, we were both quite inebriated and had a good time. Didnt get too drunk :P.

As a surprise, I got her a large bag of rambutans (picture soon). If you dont know what a rambutan is, well, they are these red fruit that is hairy on the outside, kinda reminds you of a red sea urchin. The inside is like a soft egg shaped fruit, that tastes like a cross between a lychee and something else. You can only find them in tropical climates. Well, after a quite a bit of searching, I found them here! Thank you Berkeley!!!

So its labor day weekend. Time to relax! But, I think its a bittersweet weekend for us all. Im sure those who don’t have jobs rather work then do nothing. Too bad August resulted in nearly 0 jobs being produced :/

I must say, too bad to those who hold stock in Netflix. Starz will no longer be a part of netflix, and their stock tanked at least 10%. DOH! And netflix was so hot earlier this year…

While I didnt invest, I will be sad to lose all the starz movies i dont watch (except for Toy Story 3). With all this crap going on, Im really nervous about attempting to get my Series 7 and 66 licenses to become an advisor. Maybe I should just go into the restaurant business…

Until next time, Toodly doo!

Happy Birthday to me : )

Well its another birthday! I am officially 23. I guess its time to get crackin cuz I wanna be a millionaire by 25 (dont we all?). So this year I guess im keeping it quiet; just me and my gf (who has the same birthday - sooo easy) But something new this year, is that were going camping in the Marin headlands! I will definitely be telling more about that! I havent gone camping for 10 years, so this should be interesting. As usual, I made a birthday card for Phuong, and I will post that picture up soon.

So what happened this week: So far, nothing much. It went by realllly fast. I just did my usual work, saw some clients, and officially applied to Yammer for a sales job (fingers crossed). I am a bit aprehensive, because I dont know what the salary potential is at that company. In my current job, agents are averaging $100,000 a year, and Im not sure I want to give up that potential. But yet again, I do want to work in the tech industry B2B.

This weekend! I will be going out a few more times to try different food/restaurants, so I shall make a few more posts. I will also, post about past restaurants I have been to and things to check out in SF!

Back to work!

Its a new week!

What a weekend. Well, it wasn’t that amazing, but I did have a brief moment of fun on Saturday. I started my Saturday off right; sleeping in till 12. I felt like a college student again! Sorta.

I made my way to my office managers house, where she was hosting an awesome employee appreciation party for us. Man was she appreciative! First, her house was gorgeous. She and her husband (whos British!) bought the lot next to their house and made it into a huge backyard, complete with a stream and a garden. Her husband had a downstairs bar that had a indoor jacuzzi and sauna and beer on tap. So we broke out the wine and things started flowin’. She definitely went all out. Dinner was catered and we even had life jazz music O_o. I think this goes head to head with the Tugboat cruise my life insurance market manager held for us (We went out on a private tug boat in the SF bay, and had fresh bbq off the back) Gotta love job perks!

It was definitely interesting to see everyone in a different element. Noone was dressed for work, and fellow employees brought their kids and family. It was a jolly good time. Of course, I dressed like a college student and I was carded before I could drink (as a joke).

(Pictures coming soon!)

On Sunday, I spent the whole day working at the restaurant. We had a lunch baby shower party. The guests set up their own candy bar for everyone! Everyone got these little jars where they can get whatever candy they want. Pretty cool idea!

So whats new for this week!? Well, im turning 23 on Thursday, or like Randy Poon always says, 21 yrs old for the 2nd time. So, nothing big planned, I think i will just keep things quiet this year. (i hate the headaches of dinner parties - people dont know how to divy up a bill). My girlfriend is turning 21 though! Finally, we can go to more restaurants and now lounges! Exciting stuff! Soju bar, here we come!

Friday adventures!

Well I had a pretty chill weekend. After work Friday, I got off early from the restaurant and made it out to SF with Carlotta and Dzintars.

I was totally craving ice cream and ended up going to Bi-Rite Creamery again. It is defintely my new fav ice cream shoppe. Its one of those places that make you crave ice cream. The first time I noticed it, was when I drove by and there was this line (looked like ppl were going into a club) and it just makes your head turn. People are waiting that long in line for ice cream?! SO I finally made it! Its quite a cool place. They have a range of interesting flavors, and now I want to make my own ice cream! So I tried so far: strawberry & balsamic, peach & ginger, basil, honey & lavender, creme fraiche, and olive oil. It’s cool how they can pair different ice creams like food. Now I have stamp card, so you know where I will be getting my ice cream until I can get a free scoop!

So, as part of my adventure with Carly and Dzinny, we found ourselves at The Spot, on Taravel St in SF. I have always wanted to go to a soju bar, and this was my chance! I tried checking in on Foursquare, but i only managed to find a place called Whore Island (rofl). So this was a cool place. They had: strawberry, lime, peach, pear, lychee, guava, and a few other flavoured soju that you order by the bottle. Oh boy do they hit you after a while. Along with the drinks, we had their twice fried chicken wings, which were pretty good (they cheated with alot of crust, and little meat) but they were sure tasty. Carly had kimchee fried rice with an egg (yum!) I have to say, it was a night of running into friends. Dzinny ran into some highschool friends and Delta Omicron buddies from SF State, while I ran into Momo and Chris Yee (who were happy to tell me they polished off 5 bottles of soju) We ended up with the guava flavour, which was really tasty. In the end, Carly ended up tipsy and we just took her home.

Well, that concludes a pretty laid back and yummy Friday. I look forward to going out and trying more places!

Cheerio!

Friday Laughs
Last Friday Night…

I did not dance on table tops, or take too many shots.

Boo…

So I totally forgot to post last night, but it always takes me a while to get in the habit so I’ll just forgive myself this time. But anyways…Thursday! It was a not so interesting day. I did the usual work at the office: wrote a couple policies, and made a gazillion phone calls. And thats how it always is. I dial for dollars, and get rejected more then I make a sale, but I guess it makes me appreciate every sale I am able to achieve. Other than the long (and odd) hours, unexpected disappointments in the outcome of a sale, I think the most significant negative impact this job has given me is my shrinking confidence in people. I realized, after this job that people are REALLY not dependable. I mean, how hard is it to respond to a message?! How hard is it to make it to an appointment that you committed to or at least inform me that something has come up, and therefore you need to reschedule? C’mon people!

Anyways, enough ranting.

After work, I went to work! I help out at my parents restaurant in the evenings as needed, and on the weekends. Even though it sucks sometimes, and I always miss out on hang outs and etc, it’s pretty fun. I get to see our regular customer base (like last night) and it is always cool to catch up with them, and see customers interact with each other too. Now I know they dont bring in a ton of business, but its still cool to talk with them.

Case in point: A nice couple has this mansion on the hill in our area, and everytime they see me, they ask me to come over and play tennis on their tennis court. Another guy, is going to teach me how to brew my own beer. Another took me me to my first wine tasting on my birthday in Napa ($200 tasting). I would like to see a client at my full time job do that! (well one wants to take me golfing). I think in that restaurant setting, its no longer all business and I have a chance to really connect with customers (I think its a sign…maybe I will be starting my own restaurant?)

So yesterday, I stayed up all night with my gf Phuong while she worked on her final paper for a class on emotions. Even though I dont like essays, and I am glad I am no longer taking any classes, I really miss it all. Working on my resume and a job app while my significant other did hw really brought back memories: Late night food runs, jaming to music, going to 7-11 for Rockstars and red bulls. I think I felt more alive then.

I think I need a new project to work on…

…More to come!

3rd Times the Charm

Here we go again! This is my third attempt to actually starting my own blog! So! Here is the plan: I will make at least one post a day. It doesn’t matter if I write 500 words or 10. Or just post a picture (cuz pictures are worth a 1000 words - im cheating a little) But no matter what, against all odds, I will put up something! Wish me luck!
